Here at BPB we’ve worked with, bred and raised cattle all our lives and grew up helping our grandparents and parents cut up and process meat for our family in the farm meathouse. This is where our love for honouring the animal and embracing nose to tail really began and this is why we know good fat and good cattle when we see them.

We use high-quality grass-fed tallow from kidney fat, known as 'suet,' in our creams for its purity and nutrient density.

Trim fat, which is removed from cuts like T-Bone steak, is not as nutrient-dense as kidney fat and is therefore not included in our grass-fed tallow cream. (It does in our candles though – because everything has a purpose!)

We source all our beef fat from a farm just up the road from us, run by Matt & Michelle, who raise 100% grass fed and finished cattle with no hormones or antibiotics. That’s right, just 100% pure beef goodness, just as nature intended! Our grass-fed tallow creams have very low production miles, benefiting both the earth and our local community.

An overview of the advantages of grass-fed tallow for skin care:

Grass fed tallow is packed full of triglycerides such as oleic acid which helps to deeply penetrate the skin barrier and create lasting hydration, palmitic acid which helps to protect the skins natural barrier, creating a seal and locking in moisture. Stearic acid helps to firm the skin and prevents moisture loss. Finally, linoleic acid (Omega 3) and a-linoleic acid (Omega 6) helps to restore the natural barrier of your skin; a-linoleic is also soothing to skin irritation, itching and redness.

Stearic and oleic acids are naturally found in human sebum.

Vitamins A, B12, D, E, K all naturally found within grass fed tallow, boost it into a super skin nourishing cream.

Directions for use:

As our tallow cream is preservative free, always make sure to remove the product cream form the jar with a clean and dry spatula like the one included with your purchase. Grab a pea size amount and gently massage into skin making sure not to apply too close to eyes.

A little will go a long way, so start off small and find the perfect amount for your specific skin area.
